Fine woodworking filled Eden Prairie Center this spring

As it has for the past several springs, Eden Prairie Center showcased some of the state’s best furniture, artwork and other items made of wood at the end of April. The Minnesota Woodworkers Guild displays the entries to its annual Northern Woods Exhibition at the local mall.

Stu Fox, who retired a little over 10 years ago as Eden Prairie’s parks and natural resources manager, was among the woodworkers with pieces in the 2026 show. His “Snow White Nightstand,” made of maple, poplar, sweetgum veneer on its drawer fronts and rosewood drawer pulls, won the Best Detail award.

Fox’s other show entry, “Have Chest Will Travel,” has a practical use for the hobbyist. Rather than using a rolling bag when he travels to woodworking classes, Fox now loads up the tools he needs in the 22-pound chest. Fully loaded, it weighs 37 pounds…
