READING – Christ the King Church officials and parishioners over the weekend confirmed their intent to shutter Haverhill Street’s St. Athanasius campus and move all worship services to St. Agnes Church property off of Woburn Street.
Outlining a proposal introduced just three years after Reading’s two Catholic Church parishes merged together, Christ the King Pastor Rev. Robert “Bobby” LeBlanc informed worshippers over the weekend that he will recommend the closure of the Haverhill Street campus in the face of dwindling offertory streams and a near halving of weekend service attendance since the height of the COVID-19 crisis.
