NEW MEXICO (KTSM) – A 47-year-old man is being held without bond after allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend and assaulting her until she became unconscious, according to a news release by the Sixth Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the State of New Mexico.

Steve Rodriguez is being charged with kidnapping in the first degree, aggravated battery against a household member (no great bodily harm), interference with communications, and deprivation of the property of a household member.
According to court testimony, Rodriguez was driving back from Silver City with his girlfriend when an argument escalated into a physical assault.
The girlfriend testified that she was beaten inside the vehicle before Rodriguez pulled over and threw her belongings onto the roadside.
When she was attempting to flee, Rodriguez allegedly assaulted her again, causing her to lose consciousness. When the girlfriend regained consciousness, she called 911…
