HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — A new arcade is set to open on Harrisburg’s City Island as city leaders move forward with a broader effort they say is aimed at drawing more people to the area and improving the island as a destination.
The city is approved to apply for a $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to support a master site plan and other potential upgrades. Harrisburg City Council approved the grant application at last week’s meeting.
City officials said the arcade concept grew out of a one-day arcade event the city held last year that drew about 200 people. The city later began exploring ways to bring the arcade back on a more consistent seasonal basis…
