COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a motion on behalf of Ohio State University seeking to dismiss 77 cases in the Richard Strauss lawsuit, arguing some claims fall outside the allowable timeframe.
The motion contends that any case in which the alleged abuse happened before Oct. 21, 1986, should be thrown out. The filing argues the alleged abuse occurred before Congress passed a law allowing institutions to be sued in federal court for not taking steps to prevent sex abuse of students.
If allegations began before that date but continued after it, the motion argues only part of those claims can be dismissed…
