BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County is warning residents of phishing emails targeting those who submitted permit applications to the county using an online portal.
The scam specifically targets customers who sent applications for several county departments through the Accela Citizen Portal, the county said.

According to county officials, there have been recent reports of fraudulent emails requesting payment or a wire transfer.
Those emails had subject lines such as “Invoice for Application Review and Approval Fee – Immediate Action Required,” “Outstanding Processing Fee Required Prior to Final Approval” and “Application Review & Approval Fee.”…
