MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community about a scam call requesting money be withdrawn from your account.
According to a Facebook post, the scammers will claim it is the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office and instruct citizens to go to their bank to withdraw money.
The sheriff’s office says they would never call a citizen to withdraw money and advises everyone to please hang up. For safety measures, the sheriff’s office additionally says to call the local number for your bank, ask the teller to check your account and make sure you do not have any suspicious transactions…
