Renter loses meaningful items in Jackson storage fire

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Several customers are dealing with major losses after a fire destroyed multiple units at a storage facility in Jackson on May 12, 2026.

One renter, Armand Gladney, said he first learned something was wrong while at work after receiving a notification about activity near his storage unit on Highway 80.

“While I was at work, I was shortly notified that there was motion to take the nearby unit, and I was trying to figure out what the potential issue was,” said Gladney. “And then when I left work, that’s when I was informed that there was an active fire at the storage unit.”

Although he had insurance on the unit, Gladney said many of the items lost carried sentimental value and cannot be replaced, including gifts from loved ones and keepsakes from deceased relatives…
