Mt. Vernon’s Moore inducted into Missouri Agriculture Hall of Fame

Jackie Moore, a pillar of beef production in southwest Missouri has been inducted into the Missouri Agriculture Hall of Fame. Moore is the owner of Joplin Stockyards and has overseen the operation as it grew into the biggest livestock auction in the country.

At only 13 years of age, Moore began auction school, the beginning of a lifetime in the trade. In 1986, Moore and his partners purchased Joplin Stockyards. Under his direction, the facility moved operations to a large facility along I-44 in 1995.

Since then, the stockyards have grown to the largest livestock auction in the country according to the Missouri Agriculture Hall of Fame. This is in no small part due to Moore’s leadership as he pioneered many of the modern livestock auctioning practices we see so often today.
