Thousands attend Little River waterfront for 44th annual Blue Crab Festival

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. (WBTW) — Over the weekend, the historic Little River waterfront was filled with the smell of seafood and lined with hundreds of vendors during the 44th annual Blue Crab Festival.

The event started in 1981 as a small arts and craft event, focused on celebrating local seafood and marine life.

“Back in the day, we had lots of blue crab in our waterways,” said Jennifer Walters, President and CEO of the Little River Chamber of Commerce. “Now they’re pretty much more sourced from the Winyah Bay, but we have them here. And what started out as a little juried arts and crafts festival has grown over the years to this magnificent event.”…
