Prolonged heat this week before rain returns ahead of weekend

Hot and humid weather will dominate this new week with several days in a row of above average temperatures.

Sunday ends on a warm note with mild temperatures under a partly cloudy sky.

High pressure will be in place east of the Carolinas, bringing in a warm and humid wind from the southeast.

Temperatures will stay elevated with for the week ahead.

Monday afternoon will be hot and muggy with highs in the lower 80s along the coast with lower 90s inland. Skies will be partly sunny.

Hot weather continues through the week with elevated temperatures each day through Thursday.

Humidity will stay elevated, as well. Muggy conditions are likely each day through Thursday with Friday seeing less mugginess due to cooler temperatures caused by rainfall.
