Woman found guilty in Bourbon Street shooting that killed tourist

A woman has been found guilty of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a tourist on Bourbon Street, according to the Orleans Parish District Attorney.

Investigators say that shortly after 4 a.m. on June 22, 2024, officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Toulouse and Bourbon Streets. There, 39-year-old Christopher Oatts Jr. was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Surveillance video showed Mia Lindsey, then 22, firing a gun into the crowded area after a verbal altercation involving the group she was walking with on Bourbon Street. Investigators also say Lindsey had unspecified evidence in her car that connected her to the murder…
