Candlelight vigil to be held for 18-year-old who was fatally shot hours after his graduation

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A candlelight vigil will be held for a Sophie B. Wright senior who died on Friday, May 15, just three days after being fatally shot hours after his graduation.

According to the Orleans Parish Coroner, the victim was identified as 18-year-old Ferdinand Woolens.

16-year-old injured in Algiers shooting

On Tuesday, May 12, the New Orleans Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of North Derbigny Street at 2:38 a.m. Officers said they found Woolens inside an SUV and suffering from gunshot wounds.
