Attorney wants psychiatric exam for Conway man charged in cross-burning

(WPDE) — Worden Butler’s attorney requested a psychiatric evaluation for him after being charged with interfering with the housing rights of a Black family, who were his neighbors, and using fire to commit a federal felony.

Police said in November of 2023, Butler made multiple Facebook posts about his next-door neighbors, one saying that he would give “His racist neighbors . . . A good scare for the health. With a cross in the lawn.”

The U.S. Justice Department said Butler then set up a cross in his backyard and set it on fire, along with uploading photos to social media of the neighbors home, vehicle and mailbox…
