WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — After serving communities in Winston-Salem for more than a decade, a beloved nonprofit is in jeopardy of closing.
Melanie Bell says her nonprofit City Lights Ministry has been putting beds together for more than a decade and has helped more than 4,000 children.

“We build bunk beds, and we build single beds,” Bell said.
Bell says at one point, the lumber to make a bed was cheaper than now.

“It was under $100, and now it’s probably $150 … When you do 20 to 50 beds a week, that little bit of increase is a lot. It adds up quickly, and the gas prices to deliver that bed to that child goes up,” Bell said…
