Gov. Shapiro files motion to pause federal lawsuit over Montgomery County property dispute

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Attorneys for Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are asking a judge to dismiss or stay a federal lawsuit filed by neighbors of his private residence in Montgomery County.

The lawsuit was filed back in February by a husband and wife who share a boundary with the Shapiros in Abington. They’ve argued the Governor and Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) have tried to illegally take the property they say belongs to them, violating their 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment rights.

They’ve argued the issues started in July 2025, where the Shapiros said they’d be interested in purchasing part of the neighbors’ land that contained the shared property line. But the two parties couldn’t come to an agreement on a price, so they talked instead about leasing that part of the neighbors’ property to the Shapiros…
