Recent rains along the Front Range and in eastern Colorado have nudged local drought conditions from “extreme” to “severe” — a distinction without a huge difference, lifestyle-wise, but meteorologists are hoping the wetter June outlook holds some promise of further improvements.
The state’s eastern plains also shifted from “extreme” to “moderate” drought with the storms over the past seven days, with more showers expected later this week, said Maggie Ideker, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.
