Trail Ridge Road remains closed to through travel on Memorial Day

On the morning of Memorial Day, Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park remained closed to through travel

In an alert visible on the Rocky Mountain National Park website the morning of May 25, the park said the closure is “due to recent winter weather in high elevation areas of the park and current conditions.” On the east side of the park, Trail Ridge Road is open to Rainbow Curve, according to the alert. On the west side, it is open to Milner Pass.

Crews started plowing the road, which peaks at more than 12,000 feet in elevation, the last week of April and were making progress due to historically low snowpack this winter.
