A noxious weed is taking root in Weld County, carrying a name fit for a late-night horror host or a Canadian prog-rock cover band.
Weld County officials are urging residents and landowners to watch for rush skeletonweed, an invasive plant newly identified in the county that state regulators classify as one of Colorado’s highest-priority noxious weeds for eradication.
County officials say the weed was first discovered in northern Weld County in fall 2025 and is now the focus of an aggressive removal effort involving manual eradication, chemical treatment and public reporting.
