A heat advisory is in effect for parts of South Florida, with “advisory level heat indices” expected to continue over the coming days.
Areas in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Homestead, are all under warning, according to the National Weather Service Miami, along with parts of Collier County.
The heat advisory is expected to last from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 7, with further advisories likely to be issued on Wednesday and Thursday. There is a major risk of heat illness this week, according to the NWS, and maximum heat indices, or “feels-like” temperatures, will range from 105 to 110 degrees “each afternoon this week across South Florida.”…
