A shooting involving Saginaw Police and an armed man is under investigation after officers were sent to a home Saturday morning for a welfare check.
According to the Saginaw Police Department, officers were sent to a home on the 300 block of Asbury Drive at about 11:25 a.m., where a man was reportedly having a mental health crisis and attempted to harm himself.
When officers arrived, they reported encountering a man armed with a rifle. Saginaw Police said officers gave repeated instructions to “de-escalate the situation,” but that the armed man “advanced on officers with the rifle and one Saginaw officer discharged his handgun.”…
