A Fresno bicyclist was hospitalized after authorities said he was attacked with a small hatchet during an argument while riding through the city Monday morning.
Police responded to the area of Belmont Avenue and Effie Street at about 7:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. According to investigators, the victim suffered injuries near his right rib cage and back during the confrontation. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, the Fresno Bee reported.
Investigators said the victim and a friend were riding bicycles west along Belmont Avenue when a man approached from a nearby neighborhood, according to The New York Post. Police said an argument broke out between the suspect and the cyclists before the suspect allegedly produced a small hatchet and struck the victim.
