Flanagans’ Last Round: Grand Rapids Pub Known For Guinness And Ghost Stories Shuts Down

For 44 years, Flanagan’s Irish Pub, on Pearl Street in downtown Grand Rapids, was a mainstay and place to go if you wanted an authentic Irish time. The beer, Guinness, Smithwick’s, and others were always on tap and the vibe was always fun and welcoming. That is until 2025.

Flanagan’s closed it’s doors in June of 2025 because they lost their liquor license. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission pulled the plug when the owners failed to pay thousands of dollars in fines.

Sadly, Flanagan’s has now been seized by its lender after its owners defaulted on a $750,000 loan along with losing their liquor license.

I guess there was always hope they would cough up the money and be able to reopen, but not now. Flanagan’s has been seized by its lender because of a default on that  $750,000 loan…
