Burlington man charged in armed robbery at Family Fare convenience store, police say

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington man is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, after police say he held up a convenience store at gunpoint last week.

Richard Lamar Hart Jr., 39, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and driving while license revoked. He is being held without bond at the Alamance County Detention Center.

Burlington police say the robbery happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 23 at Family Fare, 2227 Maple Avenue. An employee told officers a man entered the store, pulled out a firearm and demanded cash from the register before fleeing on foot toward Chapel Hill Road with an undisclosed amount of money.
