GETTYSBURG, Pa. (October 5, 2026) – Overall, it was a sound weekend in Mechanicsburg for “Double-D” Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing, and although the former National Open champion was unable to repeat prior successes, there were plenty of shining moments.
In fact, Dietrich, the ace of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Speedway Volkswagen & Subaru, Self Made Racing, York Excavating, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, No. 48 sprinter, hard charged his way through National Open preliminary action on Friday, October 2, climbing ahead from row 13 to finish 18th. The Gettysburg ace would improve his outcome by three positions one night later in the $75,000-to-win National Open finale – he finished 15th.
“Another National Open in the books. Some things didn’t go our way, but we’ll regroup this week and give it another go this weekend at Selinsgrove,” Dietrich said. “Hats off to the fans. Ended up being a great weekend and the support was phenomenal. Until next year.”…
