Malfunctioning boiler at South Hanover Elementary School evacuates students

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Students were evacuated and crews were called to the scene of a reported fire at South Hanover Elementary School Thursday morning in South Hanover Township, according to Dauphin County Dispatch.

Dispatchers said that the incident has been cleared. The South Hanover Fire Company was called to the scene at 8:19 a.m.

According to a statement received from Evan Brooks, Community Relations Coordinator for the Lower Dauphin School District, a malfunctioning boiler created a large amount of smoke, prompting school-wide safety protocols.
