East Oakland Gambling Den Tied to Shooting Hit in 17th Avenue Raid

Last Thursday, Oakland police and their federal and local partners moved in on what they say was a suspected illegal gambling operation in East Oakland, serving a search warrant on a property in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue that investigators had linked to a recent shooting.

The enforcement action was part of a broader investigation into violence connected to underground gaming rooms, according to the Oakland Police Department. In a brief post today, the department said only that the probe “began following a recent shooting” and noted the multi-agency coordination, but did not specify whether anyone was arrested or what, if anything, was seized.

Raid Comes Amid Ongoing Crackdown
