Judge sentences CCSD assistant principal to prison for trying to sleep with students

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A former assistant principal at a Henderson middle school was sentenced to more than two years in prison.

Howard Hughes, 63, appeared in Clark County District Court on Monday for his sentencing. He pleaded guilty in March to two charges: contact or attempt to contact minor by person of authority for the purpose of criminal activity and child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.

Clark County District Court Judge Tina Talim sentenced Hughes to 24 to 60 months in prison on count one, and 28 to 72 months on count two. Both sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
