A Henderson woman is facing federal drug and weapons charges after investigators say a controlled delivery of roughly a kilogram of fentanyl led SWAT officers to her front door. Olga Josefina Mexia is charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.
According to KSNV, the case began when U.S. Postal Inspection Service inspectors carried out a controlled delivery of about 1 kilogram of fentanyl on Sept. 21, with the package sent to Mexia’s residence. The Las Vegas Homeland Security Task Force had been investigating Mexia before the delivery was made, the station reports.
Once the package arrived, Henderson SWAT entered the home the same day. Officers allegedly found bulk fentanyl along with individually packaged fentanyl, bulk cash and two firearms during the search, per the station’s reporting.
Court Dates Now Set
Mexia made her initial appearance in federal court on Tuesday, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 7 in federal court, the outlet notes. No further details on her plea or custody status have been reported…
