University of Hawaiʻi ballroom dance team win third consecutive national title

Competing against 37 colleges, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa ballroom dance team won its third consecutive national title at the National Collegiate DanceSport Championships in Pittsburgh in March.

The ballroom dance team claimed first place for highest point average, which requires most team members to perform well in all events. The team also placed second in the overall team championship, securing its position among the nation’s top collegiate ballroom dance teams.

The dancers of the Ballroom Dance Club—a registered independent organization at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa—are trained and coached by Ravi Narayan and Synthia Sumukti, who also represented Hawaiʻi in the senior age division, placing first in several events.
