It’s one thing to crash a car while being drunk, and another to do same thing but with a child in the car. But that’s what one man in Texas allegedly did after being involved in a crash in Harris County. A DWI charge is already a serious offense, but having a passenger under the age of 15 during a DWI results in a charge that has far greater consequences.
A DWI with a Child Passenger charge carries a heavier sentence than a standard DWI
On September 12, driver Daniel Franklin was arrested after deputies responded to a minor vehicle crash near the 2700 block of Treaschwig Road, according to a post by Mark Herman, a Harris County Constable for Precinct 4, on his official Facebook page.
After identifying the suspect, deputies allegedly observed Franklin with signs of intoxication. The man consented to a standard field sobriety test and “performed poorly,” according to law enforcement.
