Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT) — On Monday, severe storms raced through the Tennessee Valley, producing heavy rain and wind damage.
Some of the strongest wind signatures were indicated across Northeast Alabama, especially in the Bridgeport and Bryant communities. Multiple trees in Madison and Jackson counties were uprooted or snapped; the area also saw multiple downed power lines.
The National Weather Service has been out conducting storm surveys across North Alabama following those storms.
Straight-line winds & tornado damage
The NWS spent Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday conducting storm surveys in the Tennessee Valley.
The NWS confirmed five tornadoes touched down in our area, and powerful straight-line winds ripped through far eastern Limestone County into Madison County. Two tornadoes impacted New Market, one tornado track through Larkin, one tornado tracked through Francisco, and the final tornado impacted far southwest Franklin County in Tennessee.
New Market Tornadoes:
Monday’s storms produced two tornadoes near the New Market community. The strongest was an EF1 tornado with maximum winds of 90 mph. Along the five and a half long damage path, multiple trees were uprooted or snapped.
