HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Madison County man whose escape from Huntsville Hospital while in law enforcement custody triggered a massive downtown search is set to appear in court later this month.
Jacob Andrew Bastiaans, 42, of Huntsville, is scheduled for a felony examination hearing on April 28 at 11 a.m. in Madison County District Court before Judge Tim J. Douthit, according to court records filed April 17.
Bastiaans faces a charge of Escape 3rd Degree — and a slew of other counts — stemming from his April 14 escape attempt while in the custody of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at Huntsville Hospital. Bond has been set at $30,000, and Bastiaans remains in jail pending the hearing…
