INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis City-County Council has introduced its newest member, who is set to fill the vacancy in District 10 after Ali Brown resigned from the role last month.
According to a news release, Shaila Mulholland was elected Friday night by Democratic precinct committee members to represent District 10, which includes a large portion of Lawrence. The Lawrence North High School graduate said she is eager to bring her “years of service and dedication” to the role.
“I am deeply grateful to the Democratic precinct committee members for entrusting me with theopportunity to serve the residents of District 10 and would like to personally thank Councilor AliBrown for her years of service and dedication to our community,” Mulholland said. “Lawrencehas shaped so much of who I am, personally and professionally. I look forward to working withmy colleagues on the City-County Council, Mayor Joe Hogsett’s administration, LawrenceMayor Deb Whitfield, and community partners to listen to residents, understand the issuesbefore us, and serve our district well.”
Mulholland confirmed her plans to resign from the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township Board of Education following her election to the city-county council.
