Purrs in Paradise, a reimagined cat lounge, is celebrating its grand opening Sept. 26 at The CAMP in Costa Mesa. The tropical-inspired space offers an ice cream cart, gourmet cookies, sweet treats from local vendors, and photo-worthy spaces for guests looking to connect with cats available for adoption.
The idea behind the lounge came to founders Ben and Michelle Lioe after they rescued two feral kittens, Dozy and Leia, in 2020. By 2023, the couple began envisioning a themed and thoughtfully designed environment where cats could stay while looking for permanent homes.
After years of designing and planning, as well as a 15-month search for a location, the couple signed a lease with The CAMP on July 1, 2025.
