Heavy rain expected in Mississippi Friday, localized flooding possible

As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers,” but on Friday, May 1, parts of Mississippi are expected to get a little more rain than just showers.

On the heels of multiple days of rain and severe storms, more heavy rain is expected and according to the National Weather Service, parts of the state could receive up to 3 inches on Friday, potentially causing localized flooding.

According to the agency’s forecast, areas just north of the Interstate 20 corridor and south to the Coast are expected to see the most precipitation. In Central Mississippi, Jackson, Meridian, Yazoo City and Philadelphia lie in the area where rainfall totals for the day could be 1-1.5 inches…
