Feds say NYC man used ‘Mob Facts’ website to threaten victim; defendant brother of notorious Staten Island burglar

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A reputed Lucchese crime family associate is scheduled to be sentenced in Brooklyn federal court on extortion charges, months after his half-brother was sentenced on Staten Island for an unrelated burglary spree.

Joseph Cutaia, 47, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty last year after prosecutors said he shook down two businessmen for cash and luxury watches, records show. A sentencing hearing in the case, initially scheduled for Tuesday, has been adjourned to a later date.

The disposition comes nearly six months after the defendant’s half-brother — Anthony Cutaia, 37, of Rossville — was sentenced to 32 years in prison for unrelated burglaries and home invasions across several Staten Island neighborhoods.
