Battle Creek Casino Boss Takes Big Bet on Pokagon’s Four Winds Spinoff

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is making a bold play off the casino floor, handing the reins of its Four Winds Ventures operation to veteran hospitality executive Kathy George as chief executive officer. George will steer the tribe’s commercial gaming and hospitality investing arm as it chases management and development deals beyond the Pokagon Band’s existing Four Winds casino properties, a clear signal that the tribe wants Four Winds to stand on its own as a broader business brand.

Her appointment, reported on Monday by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business, puts George in charge of Four Winds Ventures’ investment, consulting and operating efforts in gaming, hotels, food and beverage, and related sectors. A July 7 announcement from Four Winds Ventures laid out the mandate for the new role as the company positions itself to manage and develop projects beyond the tribe’s current casino footprint.

George brings more than thirty years of hotel and casino leadership to the job. Most recently, she served as president of Catawba Two Kings Casino in North Carolina and earlier as CEO of FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek. Her résumé also includes general manager duties at Seneca Niagara and senior posts with hotel brands such as DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, and Wyndham.
