Man faces charges after SWAT standoff in St. Joseph County (Mich.)

CENTREVILLE, Mich. (WNDU) – A Centreville man is facing multiple charges after a SWAT standoff with police in southwest Michigan earlier this week.

Isaiah Merkle, 44, is charged with four counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer and one count of operating while intoxicated, third offense.

According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, Merkle drove onto the sidewalk next to the sheriff’s office building in Centreville just before 3:45 p.m. Monday, July 13, and stopped with the front of his vehicle facing the building.
