Signing Day: MSU-bound Moore leads group of six Lakeview athletes heading to next level

BATTLE CREEK – Throughout the country, on Wednesday, high school athletes were putting pen to paper and writing their signature, upon deciding their future as part of National Signing Day.

At Lakeview High School, a group of six student-athletes were part of a signing day ceremony, including Ayden Graves, Dieter Bloch, Luke Schuemann, Cameron McKee, Josh Hennessy and Aiden Moore.

The most decorated of the group was Moore, a record-breaking track and cross country star for the Spartans, who was committing to run at Michigan State University.

“I really wanted to go D-I, so I’m excited about going to Michigan State,” Moore said. “Mostly, it came down to where I felt like I fit best. I really connected with the coach and the team and it has that big-time college feel, so it’s exciting to be going there.”

Moore broke a school record that had stood for 40 years in track in the 1,600 meters, running 4:17 last spring, as well as being part of school-record 3,200 relay team. This past fall, Moore set the school record in the cross country with a time of 15:10. He has been a multiple-time city and conference champ in both sports.
