Wires knocked down by wind fall on Kalamazoo car, setting it ablaze

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A car in Kalamazoo was destroyed when it caught fire after high winds downed live power lines during Monday evening’s severe weather.

It happened on Portage Street and Nottingham Avenue sometime before 8 p.m.

A News Channel 3 crew on the scene observed the car engulfed in flames. Firefighters said that because the wires were live, they were not able to put any water on the now-charred car.
