Deputies: Truck hit overpass near Plainwell, spilled logs on US-131

GUN PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a commercial truck crashed into an overpass in the Plainwell area early Wednesday morning, spilling logs on northbound US-131 and snarling traffic.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the 110th Avenue overpass in Gun Plain Township.

The crash caused the truck to spill “numerous logs” on the freeway, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. Then, another commercial truck crashed into those logs, deputies continued.

Deputies said no injuries were reported.

110th Avenue was closed and northbound US-131 was down to one lane for hours after the crash, causing traffic backups in the area. By 8:25 a.m., the crash had been cleared and all lanes of US-131 were back open, deputies said.
