Weider Block Building redevelopment earns $1.2 m Revitalization and Placemaking grant

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Tuesday that Michigan’s Revitalization and Placemaking grant program will award funds to support three redevelopment projects. Further supporting projects around the state, that will create 15 new housing units while increasing foot traffic in downtowns.

In Hancock, developer Jonathan Nagel will use a $1.2 million grant to support a $2.5 million project on Quincy Street. Nagel plans to redevelop the Weider Block building at 115 Quincy St., configuring the first floor to house Staghorn Brewing Company while adding four new apartments on the second story.

Nagel also received a $15,000 facade grant from the City of Hancock for the downtown investment…
