Independence man faces DWI, child endangerment after Gallatin traffic stop

An Independence man faces multiple charges after authorities alleged he was driving under the influence of marijuana while speeding through Gallatin with a child in the vehicle.

Court records filed in Daviess County Circuit Court show Courtney Michael Eaton, of Independence, has been charged with felony persistent driving while intoxicated, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and speeding.

According to the probable cause statement, Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony May reported observing a 2020 Jeep traveling west on Highway 6 at Main Street in Gallatin at what was described as a high rate of speed at approximately 6:10 p.m., May 23.
