This popular Youngsville restaurant is expanding. Here’s where it’s opening next.

Dining at KK’s Cafe feels like eating at someone’s kitchen table, with all of the professionalism and quality you’d expect of chefs who have spent years training in Lafayette’s celebrated restaurant scene.

Owners Lee and Wendy Oubre, who are from New Iberia, built their careers in some of Acadiana’s keystone restaurants — Charley G’s, Don’s Seafood, Dupuy’s Seafood & Steak, and the former Bennigan’s in Lafayette, to name a few. Now with a large family of kids and grandkids, the couple bought KK’s Cafe at 905 Savoy Road, Youngsville, seven years ago so they could work for themselves, and build opportunities for the next generation.

Now, the restaurant is an extension of their legacy in every sense. All three of their children and a grandson work at the restaurant, with their daughter-in-law making the cafe’s notorious cheesecakes and biscuits. The Oubres joke that they are at KK’s Cafe “eight days a week,” but that’s the level of attention a successful restaurant demands.

“Good service, good food is all that matters. Taking care of your customers,” said Wendy Oubre. “There’s no magic bank account in the restaurant business. No customers, no restaurant. You have to really hit everything, and if you can’t, you have to do your best to hit everything, and then correct your mistakes.”…
