Ursuline Academy On State Street Has Been Educating Students In New Orleans Since 1727

(KTDY) – As kids prepare to return to the classroom, if you’ve been in a modern-day classroom, you know that classrooms look nothing like they once did, and we have found the oldest school in Louisiana.

One of my favorite things to do is to walk through old schools and classrooms to take in the nostalgia. There’s just something about the smell of an old school that takes me back in time, and now I know one campus that I need to visit because it’s the oldest school in Louisiana.

I recently looked up where the oldest school is located in Louisiana, and it’s the elementary school in New Orleans that my wife attended. The oldest school in the Bayou State is Ursuline Academy, located on State St in New Orleans.

The school opened in 1727, and it is still open to students. The school is a Catholic school for all girls, and it is the oldest all-girls school in the United States…
