The Lafayette Parish School Board may rescind its vote to shut down Comeaux High School in a special meeting Wednesday, following a district court judge’s decision this week to halt the process and hear arguments challenging the closure later this month.
The board would then hold a public hearing on April 23 at 11:30 a.m. and vote again on whether to shutter the school at a special board meeting later that day, according to the agenda for its regular meeting Thursday. The re-vote would come six days before the scheduled trial.
A major point of discussion during Monday’s court hearing was whether the school board violated its policy stating that it shall “conduct a minimum of one public hearing and provide an opportunity for full discussion of the proposal to close such school or schools.”…
