Lafayette Utilities System is warning customers of an ongoing phone scam, urging residents to pay or risk having their services cut.
The scammer pose a LUS representative and demands immediate payment of a supposed delinquent bill, threat cutting off electric services within the hour if payment is not received, LUS said in an announcement. Scammers then ask for payment via prepaid debit cards or gift cards.
