Update: The school board’s agenda for its regular meeting Thursday now proposes that a public hearing on the closure of Comeaux High School be held at 3 p.m. on April 23. It was initially set for 11:30 a.m.
The Lafayette Parish School Board and an Ovey Comeaux High School parent are trading legal maneuvers over the future of the school — but in reality, the school’s closure was decided years ago.
There hasn’t been a strategic plan for the school’s future for a while, and neither the school board nor the superintendent has been communicating in a trustworthy way to the public. As a result, the lives of hundreds of students, teachers and educational professionals are being disrupted. And it’s not clear if Lafayette’s going to be any better off for it…
