Lafayette man turns rejection into Air Force success after 200-pound weight loss

LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — For one Lafayette family, a local recruiting office represents both heartbreak and triumph.

Two years ago, Ethan Cobb walked into the Lafayette Armed Forces Recruiting Office hoping to begin his military career. At the time, he weighed around 400 pounds and was told he was not eligible to serve. His mother, Becki Kidder, said that moment was difficult but ultimately life changing.

“To hear those words and to see his face so disappointed, I thought this can go either two ways. He can either say, ‘I’ll never make it,’ or he can do what he did…which was get busy and take care of it,” Kidder said…
